Same energy supplier, better electricity prices

At Perfect Clarity, we check prices from over 20 energy suppliers for you. Our excellent relationships often mean better rates for your business. For example, one of our customers owns a car repair centre in Buckinghamshire.

The electricity prices British Gas gave Alan for his next contract, would have meant an annual cost of £3,662. Based on the same annual consumption figure, our lower British Gas prices would have reduced Alan’s annual electricity cost to £3,487.

However, we had better prices available from other suppliers. This meant Alan reduced his vehicle repair electricity prices from £3,662, to £3,212 per year for three years.

A saving of around £1,350 over this 3-year period.

How long should I fix electricity prices for?

Given current market conditions, we recommend fixing prices for your vehicle repair centre, for a minimum of 2 years. And for 3 years if you feel comfortable in doing so. There are 4 and 5-year energy contracts available, but we don’t usually recommend fixing energy prices for this long.

Four years is a long time, and a lot can happen to the markets in the period.

It is striking the right balance and will depend on prices available for a 2-year contract. Current market conditions mean electricity prices have been volatile for several years.

There will be ups and downs in the wholesale rates of course, as commercial prices change frequently. Fixing prices for 2 or 3 years will give you price security during this period. The price you pay for electricity used by your car repair centre cannot increase while your prices are fixed. The only variable is the amount of electricity your repair centre uses.

You must be 100% comfortable with the number of years you commit to. Commercial energy contracts are legally binding. Unlike domestic energy contracts, you cannot cancel mid-contract for a small fee.
