Your cricket club electricity prices
Hit your energy bills for six.
A typical example was Stuart’s village cricket club electricity prices. The new prices from their energy supplier, Opus Energy, put their annual electricity bill at around £1,740. We got Stuart’s club a much better deal, reducing their annual electricity bill to £1,335.

Rising electricity prices are impacting cricket clubs
Electricity prices over the last 4-5 years have increased considerably. As a result, your cricket club energy bill will now be a considerable annual cost.
However, our expert market knowledge and relationships with more than 20 energy companies will help. We are perfectly positioned to lower your annual electricity cost as much as possible.
We can certainly help you when your electricity contract has ended, or is near the end. The best time to agree your next electricity contract though, is around 6 months before the current one finishes. In the current climate, electricity prices will simply be lower than waiting another 6 months.

Wiltshire village cricket club saves £475 a year on electricity costs
A cricket club in Wiltshire came to us with an annual electricity bill of £2,110 a year. Their energy supplier had been gradually increasing the electricity rates every year. While wholesale electricity prices have indeed been rising, we could see the increases from their energy supplier were clearly too high.
If Matt didn’t do anything, the club would be paying another 8% the following year. Costs would have increased to over £2,275.
We were able to get Matt’s club a better rate from their current energy supplier, saving them around £350 on the previous years’ costs. However, they were not the most competitive price available. We moved them smoothly to a new supplier which saved his village cricket club £475 a year (£640 compared to the new prices he was offered). These were also fixed for 2 years, giving them security during volatile times.
How do we get lower prices from the energy companies?
Energy companies offer competitive electricity rates to businesses with higher electricity use than a village cricket club. Unfortunately, most suppliers will charge lower consuming organisations a higher rate for electricity.
This is where we come in. We know what the current market rates are in your region, and what you should expect to be paying. As we have access to energy company price books, we can hold suppliers to their lowest prices.
Unfortunately, the days of paying 8p per kWh for daytime electricity are long in the past. But we will ensure your club pays a competitive rate. Cricket clubs pay commercial energy rates, whatever the size of your club. And we work with over 20 energy companies in this sector.
£640 a year saving for village cricket club in Devon
Neil is Treasurer for his local cricket club and called us after receiving a renewal letter from EON, their electricity supplier.
The club has an annual use of 18,700 kWh as it is used by the local community during the week for various activities. However, EON wanted to increase the price to over 16.5p per kWh for their next contract. And only for 12 months.
We know EON have much better prices available than this. But we sourced even lower electricity prices from our network of suppliers. This meant Neil’s club saved £640 a year on their electricity costs, equivalent to a 20% saving.
They fixed these prices in for 3 years, to avoid any future increases during this period.
How long should I fix electricity prices for?
Current market conditions mean electricity prices are extremely volatile. Reasons for this are increases in both the wholesale price of electricity, as well as distribution charges and government taxes.
The above costs make up the price per kWh of electricity. The largest of these is the wholesale price, around 50% of the price per kWh. This is largely affected by supply and demand.
Unfortunately, our nuclear power stations are about to be decommissioned (they have already had their lives extended longer than they were built for). With 25% of our electricity generated by nuclear power, this will mean we have to import even more from abroad.
With an ever-increasing demand for electricity, supply will be clearly diminished. We only have one new reactor being built, at Hinckley Point, and this won’t generate electricity until 2025.
Therefore, we recommend fixing prices in the long-term for your price security. While fixed, you will be immune to increases in market prices.
Is green electricity still more expensive?
It is a little more expensive than standard (brown) electricity. However, the costs have fallen considerably.
There has been enormous investment in renewable electricity over several years now. As a result, green electricity is much closer in price to standard electricity. Some suppliers have even switched to 100% renewable electricity at no extra cost.
Call us for a comparison of both standard and green electricity for your village cricket club.
